With a depth of 141m, Lake Millstatt is the deepest lake in Carinthia, has a water temperature of up to 27°C in summer
and has drinking water quality - the ideal conditions for a relaxing vacation.
At the Seehotel Steiner we have our own sunbathing beach with loungers, cushions, umbrellas and bath towels for all our guests.
The directly adjacent panoramic terrace provides even more peace and quiet. There is also a kids' corner by the lake for our youngest guests.
As the necessary action should not be neglected alongside relaxation, all our guests can borrow pedal boats and rowing boats, water bikes and baracudas as well as canoes and kayaks free of charge. If you dare, you can also try water skiing, parasailing or a banana or ringo ride on request.
Should it rain - without wanting to miss out on the water experience - we have our own indoor pool with saunas. For even more lakeside wellness, the Badehaus Millstatt is just a stone's throw away, inviting you to relax and unwind.
Riding
Whether it's a leisurely stroll or a brisk ride - if you want to enjoy the lake panorama from the back of a horse, the region around the lake has the perfect riding stables for an excursion into nature.
You can take advantage of a wide range of offers, from carriage rides and pony rides to riding courses for beginners and advanced riders.
The Seehotel Steiner is just a few minutes away from the Podesser riding stables and the Sonnenhof, which offer individual lessons as well as family options.
Fishing
It is not only the excellent water quality that makes Lake Millstatt an insider tip for all anglers. Especially the abundance of species with fish such as lake trout, perch, pike, carp, zander, char and many more, in combination with the natural and rustic shores, make Lake Millstatt the ideal place for all fishing enthusiasts.
To use the lake for fishing, an annual fishing license and a permit are required. These can be purchased at the Seeboden tourist office just a few minutes' walk from the Seehotel Steiner.
Hiking & mountains
Lake Millstatt is surrounded by numerous mountain peaks, green hills and forest-covered ridges, which are not only perfect for a hike, but can also be combined with cultural excursions. The areas around the lake offer the right terrain for every ability and desire.
Things get more active on the Goldeck sports mountain in the south-east or the Mirnock in the west, which, in addition to a natural moor, also inspires climbers of various levels of difficulty with the "Breitenwand". Nordic walking around Lake Millstatt is even more sporty.
For all those interested in culture, the region offers numerous family-friendly themed hiking trails, such as the legend hike in Döbriach or the bee nature trail to the Ortenburg ruins.
The many hiking tours can be easily reached by bus with the "Almexpress Millstätter See" and a hiking guide can accompany the tour on request.

With three sand tennis courts, a beach volleyball court and table tennis tables as well as a badminton court, we offer the necessary infrastructure for all ball sports fans at the Seehotel Steiner directly on the hotel grounds.
Whether for a match with friends, a game of boccia with the whole family or a children's beach volleyball tournament - our facilities are available to all our guests free of charge and are maintained every day to guarantee ball and sand fun.
Adventure excursion destinations
If you need even more action on vacation, you should take a trip to the Fresach amusement park. There you can get your adrenaline pumping with paintball and right next door on the floodlit circuit and go-karting on the motocross track.
Even closer to nature is the high ropes course in Millstatt, where you can enjoy the surroundings on a rapid descent on the Flying Fox, or the Black Peal round trip, where our young pirates can go on a treasure hunt.
Our own children's playground, which is fenced off in the inner courtyard part of the hotel complex, provides a little action in between.
Cycling
The infrastructure around Lake Millstätter See offers perfect conditions for young and old to discover the vibrant nature and diverse landscape on cycling excursions. The 28km cycle path around the lake is particularly family-friendly and can be completed in just under 3 hours. Those who prefer a more leisurely ride can combine an excursion with the Millstätter See boat trip or use an e-bike. With e-bike charging stations and the "Peter Pan" bike boat, Lake Millstatt is ideally equipped for this.
More challenges for all active and extreme sports enthusiasts are provided by 1400 km of cycle paths at altitudes of up to 2000 m with many excursion destinations on the mountain and in the valley.
So that you can enjoy your vacation as spontaneously and relaxing as possible, we have city and mountain bikes, children's bikes and buggies, as well as e-scooters including e-bikes for a fee, which can be rented at any time if required and available.
Golfing
If you want to combine a game of golf with a view of the lake, the Millstätter See golf course is just the place for you. In addition to an 18-hole golf course, it also offers a driving range with chipping, pitching and putting greens and a compact course with three par-3 holes. The course meets all requirements - not least because of the fantastic view of Lake Millstatt. The first 9 holes run through hilly terrain and are therefore a little more physically demanding. The second 9 holes run over flat terrain surrounded by the Nockberge mountains.
For added convenience, there are plenty of carts and trolleys on the course, as well as a clubhouse with a golf pro store and a restaurant open to the public with a terrace for golfers and non-golfers.
And for those who still want to be or want to become golfers again, there are also numerous courses in which beginners and advanced golfers receive tips and tricks on the right tactics and swing technique from golf professionals.
